Responsive Web Design
Responsive design is building a website that dynamically scales its content and elements to match the screen size on which it is viewed, be it desktop, tablets or mobile devices. It keeps images from rendering larger than the screen width, preventing the need for mobile-device visitors to do any further screen adjustments to read your content.

F.A.Q
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is royalty-free photography? What if they are not appropriate?
Royalty-free means that stock photos available online can be used on your website, without obtaining a license. However, sometimes the selection of photos are very limited or of poor quality or not appropriate for your concept. Paid stock photography provides high quality and an almost unlimited selection, but will require purchasing from popular stock photo companies like iStock Photo, Shutterstock as either a once-off fee per photo or on a subscription basis. So yes, it can be included, but we can discuss the best options at optimal costs.
-
I see that content copy is not included. What does this mean?
Content copy is taking the existing information you have about your business and re-writing them into a meaniful form, that will provide a logical flow on your website. It will include keywords that can be searched by internet search giants like Google or Bing. I most often will write the copy for you if needed but this will incur a charge in addition to the design. We can discuss the length of content and I can give you a price.
-
What if I need database, back-end stuff done?
Unfortunately I do not do server-side programming, but do use 3rd-party forms to provide the same functionality (if needed).
-
Can you build a shopping cart for the website?
Building e-commerce functionality like a shopping cart, would require back-end work and would certainly take more time and incur a higher cost. I do rather make use of 3rd-party e-commerce cart solutions and incorporate this into your website design to keep the costs down.
-
How and when do I pay?
-
Payments are accepted in these forms:
- Bank Transfer
- Yoco Payment Link
- Wechat Pay
- Cash
Upon completion of the site on my test server, payment is to be paid in full before the site is transferred to the client's domain.
-
Can we meet in person?
Usually if we are in the same city, it would be possible. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, I am currently not in South Africa. Hence, all communication will be done remotely.
-
How long will it take to complete the website?
Depending on the amount of pages and complexity of the project, it can generally be completed within 2 weeks, but not longer than 4 weeks. Drafts will be presented to you during the course of designing, and sometimes the back and forth exchanges and our time availability can push the completion date a bit later.
-
What about ownership of the domain and files?
I host the entire site for testing purposes on my own domain. Upon full payment, I will proceed to have all ownership transferred to a domain of your own should you already own one, or I will assist in setting one up.
-
What programming languages do you code in?
I code in HTML, CSS and simple JAVASCRIPT, and do not do the "drag-and-drop" thing in coding software. I write each line of code using a simple text editor; old-school, yes but I like to know what's happening under the hood!
